What next?

Ok, I read in the Democrat-Gazette yesterday that Entergy Arkansas now wants to raise their base rates by 7.5% is total crap in my opinion. The reason I am saying this is that it falls on the heels of a rate increase approved by the Public Service Commission for increased energy costs.

This in conjunction with the increased payments Arkansas ratepayers will have to make because of a “system agreement” which forces Arkansas ratepayers to subsidize the electric rates in Louisiana and Mississippi is a bunch of crap. I know the base rate has not been increased since 1985 but I think this is a business practice on the part of Entergy Arkansas.

I am willing to bet they knew well in advance of the PSC approving the last rate increase that they were going to ask for this base rate to be increased as well.

I do admit that Entergy Arkansas has done a great job in keeping rates low for Arkansas by building plants that generate electricity using coal or nuclear power instead of oil and natural gas like the Entergy divisions in Louisiana and Mississippi. I just don’t see why Arkansas ratepayers are getting the shaft because of all of this….
