What next?
Ok, I read in the Democrat-Gazette yesterday that Entergy Arkansas now wants to raise their base rates by 7.5% is total crap in my opinion. The reason I am saying this is that it falls on the heels of a rate increase approved by the Public Service Commission for increased energy costs. This in conjunction with the increased payments Arkansas ratepayers will have to make because of a “system agreement” which forces Arkansas ratepayers to subsidize the electric rates in Louisiana and Mississippi is a bunch of crap. I know the base rate has not been increased since 1985 but I think this is a business practice on the part of Entergy Arkansas.I am willing to bet they knew well in advance of the PSC approving the last rate increase that they were going to ask for this base rate to be increased as well.I do admit that Entergy Arkansas has done a great job in keeping rates low for Arkansas by building plants that generate electricity using coal or nuclear power instead of oil and natural gas like the Entergy divisions in Louisiana and Mississippi. I just don’t see why Arkansas ratepayers are getting the shaft because of all of this….
DAMNIT!!!
DAMNIT!
I just spent 30 minutes writing a blog entry using my web browser instead of my word processor and lost it all. I tried to the spell check and something with the pop up blocker caused the page to re-load and thus lost my entry…damn damn damn!
Oh well, maybe I can re-create it tonight. I had written commentary about Cynthia McKinney and Joe Lieberman losing their primary bids, the Pulaski County jail tax and the Dixie Chicks….oh well…easy come easy go…
Another Loss for Arkansas
Man this sucks… Arkansas has now lost TWO good people in less than a month. First Win Rockefeller passes away after fighting a blood disorder and now the “Voice of the Razorbacks” passes in a car accident. Why is it that so many good people are passing on?
While I never knew Paul, my brother in law’s wife knew him. Paul duck hunted with her father quite a bit over the years and speaks very highly of him. Their paths crossed about 10 years ago at the Burger King in Alma and he remembered her even though it had been several years since they had seen each other.
It stories like that I’ve been hearing about Paul all day. He sounded like he was truly a humble man who was just blessed with a career that he had a talent for and loved. I know Arkansas will truly miss him.
